A word to the wise… before you attempt to read this book be advised that is certainly not a read for the faint-hearted. This book is not for light reading and you need to cover this one, chapter by chapter.

Chapter 1 is a foreword by Dr. Shimon Friedman.

Chapter 2 reviews the role of nanomaterials in dental tissue regeneration.

Chapter 3 discusses the whys and wherefores of the science of nanoparticles. The size of the particle, their surface characteristics, and the evaluation of their cytotoxicity are all covered here.

Chapter 4 by Saji George is a brilliant breakdown of the biological considerations of various nanoparticle-based medical applications and would enable the readers to further their understanding of the workings of a nanoparticle.

Chapter 6 by the editor himself along with Annie Shrestha concentrates on the application of nanoparticles in endodontic disinfection. A key feature of this chapter is the comprehensive list of literature that has been broken down and tabulated for easy consumption by the reader.

Chapters 7 and 9 take a step beyond endodontics and apprise the reader of nanoparticles used for stabilization of the dentin and remineralizing nanoparticles to be used in minimally invasive dentistry.

Chapter 8 is an excellent overview of nanoparticles used in restorative dentistry and covers materials that are already commercially available as well as those which are still in the pipeline. This chapter has been meticulously penned by G. M. DeSouza.

A glossary of terms by the Editor would have been much appreciated.

The book is very steeply priced and could be out of reach for most of us, but a must read it is.
