The 19th Scientific Congress of Asian Pacific Endodontic Confederation and 18th IACDE and IES PG Convention, 2017 held at Gurgaon, exhibited plethora of the latest insights into basic science, clinical research, and therapeutic interventions in endodontics.

The convention experienced a prodigious response and was graced by the presence of over 1800 doctors from India as well as abroad. The learning program included scientific sessions presented by students and delegates on the 1st day which encouraged an interactive and inspiring exchange between participants. Over 100 student and delegate sessions were conducted which underlined the recent researches and technological advancement in the field of endodontics. The award for Best Paper and Best Poster Award was given at the end of each session to encourage the budding minds.

Around thirty scientific keynote sessions were showcased in the convention, which included many eminent speakers from around the globe. Dr. Cliff Ruddle instilled the young minds with immense knowledge, and his presentation highlighted a state-of-the-art file system that utilizes the most proven design features from the past, coupled with the most recent technological advances currently available.

The session by Dr. Kishore Gulabivala gave a thorough and clear insight about the current best evidence on the effect of each procedural step on the disease process and the technical (skills) and procedural facets that are likely to enhance periapical healing and patient satisfaction.

Dr. William Saunders, Dr. Walid Nehme, Dr. Paul Dummer, Dr. Samuel O Dorn, and many more legendary speakers also enriched the scientific sessions with their immense knowledge and words of wisdom.

The program also included a wide technical exhibition where all relevant companies and vendors showcased their latest technological advances, products, and services.

A wide diversity of topics including aberrant canal anatomy, ultrasonics in endodontics, endodontic treatment outcomes, regenerative endodontics, endodontic emergencies and challenges, and many more were presented by the speakers.

The congress also encountered the advent of new concepts and technologies. Dr. Yoshi Terauchi demonstrated a unique procedure as well as a standardized technique in combination with cone beam computed tomography for separated instrument retrieval. Where the middle third meets the remainder of the root is where the difference between a great outcome meets a mediocre outcome and the lecture by Dr. Vivek Hegde talked about the future - the obturation of the critical apical third!

We are proud to be associated to this major event, which offers an excellent platform for getting acquainted with the latest technological developments related to conservative dentistry and endodontics.

Thank you for your active participation and contribution which made this congress a success!

Humbly yours,

Dr. Sanjay Miglani, MDS, FISDR

Congress Secretary, APEC 2017
