It is with a heavy heart and mind, I remember my good friend and colleague, Prof. Dr K. Jagannathan. My association with Jags, fondly called by our friends, dates back to 1978 from our undergraduate days at the Madras Dental College, Chennai. He shared a passion for dentistry and hence was always connected with like minded people. Inspite of hailing from an illustrious family, he was humble and had a passion for acquiring knowledge. These qualitities drove him to pursue his dreams at AB Shetty Dental College where he finished his post graduation in Conservative Dentistry and Endodontics. Coupled with an energy to ignite young minds and a passion to share knowledge, he joined as a faculty at Ragas Dental college in 1992. Those were the glorious days when endodontics was emerging as a most sought after speciality and we all spent time together exploring cases and performing periradicular surgeries, our common fields of interest. Dr. Jagannathan left no stone unturned in Endodontics. I still remember his passionate discussions with students on obturating curved and multiple canals using simple hand instrumentation technique. He had keen interest in endodontics specially for Cleaning canals. At this juncture I want to share that such was his vision and love for the subject, that he modified a medical based microscopes for Endodontics. While we are discussing about microscope aided Endodontics in 2020s, he implemented its use in the 90s, about 25 years back. He was a person with a vision for future. He was always ahead of times. He was a par excellent endodontist, a good friend and a very affectionate family man whose lacunae will be felt forever. Though he is not with us today, he will continue to live with us forever.
